The History of Parrans Chapel

  • The 1st gathering of believers happened before 1888.  The history books tell of a group of people gathering at “Brush Arbor” on the land the current building sets on.
  • The 1st day that Parrans Chapel opened its doors was on 3rd Sunday of September, 1888.
  • A one room building on the current property and the church would meet every 4th Sunday in the days.
  • In the early 1960’s, the church did not even have its own baptistry.  So, they used Clear Creek, Kearney’s Mill Pond, Hammons Pond, or the pond in front of the church.
  • Not until the mid-1960’s was the current church building began.  The east wing where the fellowship hall sits now was added in 1976.
  • The church has a long history of service to the people of Hardeman County as well as missions to people all over the world.
